The View from Sentinel Pass

The photos above are taken on the Larch Valley/Sentinal Pass Trail, in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Starting at gorgeous Lake Louise, we hiked up just after an early snow storm and slipped and slid our way up the mountains to the pass and back down again. Spectacular fall color and dazzling snow in Larch Valley blended to make stunning scenery.

This past fall’s trip included Glacier National Park in Montana, and Yoho National Park in British Columbia. Although we visited in September, winter came early to the Canadian Rockies and Montana. We saw lots of snow and a record breaking blizzard in Banff. Those photos await sorting and editing but hopefully the magnificence of the place will come through in my photos. See my Photography page on the menu above for more National Park and Wildlife Photos.

Pottery

I have begun to work in porcelain for the New Year. This is a change of focus for me as most of my pottery has been white stoneware.  I will continue to work in stoneware but for now, I have half a ton of domestic porcelain that I want to use. I will be expanding my portfolio of one of a kind, hand thrown and decorated porcelain pieces. Check back to see my progress.

Please come and see my pottery on display and for sale at the the Long View Country Store, Route 3 in Meredith, NH.  “A Real Old-Fashioned Country Store!” 603-279-3021 and on Facebook. Also visit my Pottery page on this site for news and updates  (click “Pottery” on the banner above).

Of course, I always love a visit to my pottery, Oak Hill Studio, at 17 Forest Hill Road, Meredith, NH 03253. Just give me a call at 617-999-5267 and we can set aside a time to get together. And please. Keep checking this site, sharonrnahill.com. I promise to be better at posting updates and new events.

Photography

I am very slowly editing the landscape photographs from my trips to the national parks.  They chronicle the hikes I have taken. If you are interested, wander over to my Photography Page (click on “Photography” in the banner above) and check out the slide shows (zoom in to enlarge the show). Right now you can see The Florida Everglades, Crater Lake, Redwoods, The Great Smoky Mountains, Lassen Volcanic, and, newly added, Zion National Park Collections. If any interest you or you would like a print, please contact me (617-999-5267, sharonrnahill@gmail.com, or this site).

I am currently editing photos from Bryce Canyon National Park and I hope to add those and others from the “Utah Five” National Park trip that Jim and I took last year.

My photographs are on display and for sale at the Lakes Region Art Association Gallery at the Tanger Mall in Tilton, NH. and at http://www.lraanh.org or Facebook.

About Sharon R. Nahill

I have been a potter/sculptor for over 30 years. My pottery is made by traditional methods aspiring to beauty through function. The glaze palette is varied and complex resulting in simple forms with dramatic color. The sculpture is abstract with a focus on organic forms and their relationships to the human figure. In the past ten years, I have become very interested in Photography and I spend a lot of time hiking in the wild spaces of the the National Parks and at home here, in NH. I also love capturing the sites in my garden and the wildlife on the lakes. You can see my photos displayed at the Lakes Region Art Association Gallery, in Tilton, NH and on the "Photography" page of this website.
